Somethin’ to Du: Go to First Ave’s annual ‘Mats Tribute

Tommy Stinson playing First Ave May 20th

My paulwesterberg.net inbox is usually filled to the brim with email. Most of them are requests for Paul (who I am not) to play somewhere or like this (and I quote), “I’m a great admirer of you and your music! I would therefore be very happy if you could send me 2 handsigned (autographed) photos of you.”

You have no idea how much self-restraint it takes to not sign a few photos of myself. Specifically this one from my junior year in high school (rock on 1987).

So you must forgive me that it’s taken so long to pass on this notice from Gimme Noise about Tommy’s upcoming show at First Ave, where they try to stir up some rumors about how might join Tommy on stage.

Tickets are $12 at First Ave’s site.

Paul Westerberg at Austin City Limits Festival, really?

I have no idea if this poster announcing the line-up for this ACL Event is bogus or not, because it sounds too good to be true.

The Craft with Paul Westerberg pre-First Ave shindig

Okay jerkies, here’s the dealio. Doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8. From what I can surmise (though I have no official verification), everyone who attends is gonna need to ‘check in.’ I know a lot of the local places giving away tickets (City Pages, Vita.mn) aren’t even gonna notify winners until Saturday the 22nd.

So that’s what I (don’t) know about that.

What I do know is that a bevy of westernerd-babes and I are gonna go on down to O’Donovans (careful the site plays annoying music) at 5:30 Sunday. And then after a few we will mosey on down the road (across the street really) to First Ave. and get our sweet selves checked in.

Don’t be shy, stop on over. I’ll be the 6’5″ woman with the annoying laugh. Come on up and say hello. I can’t wait to see you all!

Video Tuesday — Now with more nagging you to try to win tickets to MGD The Craft series with Paul Westerberg

Hi. Did you realize that Paul Westerberg.net is giving away 4 tickets to the upcoming invite-only show at First Avenue?

Did you know that so far we only have two entries?

  1. Damn, another contest
  2. Are you strung out on some face?

Did you know that the contest ends at like Midnight tomorrow?

Your odds are looking pretty damn good if you ask me. So get on it, doorknob. (Does insulting the reader act as a motivator? Inquiring minds want to know. Also I think the phrase doorknob needs to come back in vogue)

Also, here’s a video.
