    I have no fucking clue. That has to be the rarest Mats footage I’ve ever seen. I’m guessing PTMM era. Great find Jodi.

    The boys were unable to pick up an award (Bill tells ‘em on account of the van having a flat)on a televised music award show. Joan Jett announces The Replacements as Best Band, & they cut to the remote in which Westerberg is on the phone with his pa trying to get a ride, but it’s not possible due to “bowling night.” Funny shit. Paul, Tommy & Chris got their monkey suits on & nowhere to go. It’s one of my fave “bits” & I bet Letterman would’ve loved it.

    My pleasure. Love the part where Westerberg tells his pops (on phone)”I’ll cut it tomorrow” (of course it’s the grass, but I like to think it’s his hair!LOL)You’re right, it does have a pilot sitcom “feel” to it - “Leave it to The Replacements” anyone? - but with the background old time music, they come off like The Bowery Boys. Pretty grand.

    I’ve never seen this before, but my brother says that he saw it on MTV. There’s no Slim or Bob, so it must be from aound PTMM.

    ya, i have that clip from an old video compilation. It was an award show cutaway gag.
    Funny shit. I ll blast through that old tape and look for some other rarities.
